Where there are more pauses in the rain, totals will be closer to 2 inches but some will receive at least 4 inches of rainfall total. Creeks and streams run high and areas with poor runoff could face flooding problems. Busy commute hours could face more slowdowns, with fog and standing water on roads as well.
SPARTA, Tenn. (AP) -- Three men have died in separate incidents on Tennessee waterways over the Labor Day weekend.
Media report two men from Middle Tennessee drowned Monday in separate incidents, just a day after another man died in a boating accident.
Authorities say 22-year-old Abdulah Amsabil of Nashville died while swimming at Burgess Falls State Park. Police say he went under while swimming with family members and never resurfaced. Divers recovered his body later that day.
A few hours later, 18-year-old Smyrna High School senior Matthew Grissom drowned while swimming near Walter Hill Dam in Rutherford County.
Early Monday, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officials recovered the body of 39-year-old Harvie C. Butler of La Vergne from the waters of J. Percy Priest Lake. He died Sunday after a boating accident.
