SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Sevier County man has admitted he was guilty of being married to more than one woman at the same time.
Phillip Marion plead guilty to the charge of Bigamy on Thursday in a Sevier County courtroom. Marion said he wasn't aware that he was still married to a woman in Ohio when he married Terrie Marion.
His wife, Terrie Marion, went to the Sevier County Magistrate's Office in may and filed the charges. She had documents to show Phillip Marion was married to her, but had never divorced 2 other women. Terrie says she had been with her husband for 12 years.
"I was hurt deeply, and a lot of anger. a lot of anger for him to do that. and come into a marriage knowing he was already married," said Terrie Keeble Marion. "I want this to stop for all women. Obviously it's very common and there's not a lot of good enforcement on this."
Terrie says she found Phillip was married first in 1992 to a woman in Ohio, and 2nd to a South Carolina woman in 2000.
Marion will be back in court in October to be sentenced.
