Man struck, killed by train in Maryville

MARYVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A young Maryville man has been struck and killed by a train.

The Daily Times reported the body of 19-year-old Austin Tyler Hitch was located about 300 yards from a railroad crossing in Maryville.

The Blount County Sheriff's Office said Hitch was struck by a CSX Transportation train at about 4:45 a.m. Sunday.

Hitch was the fourth pedestrian to be killed by a train in Blount County in recent times. Scott Alan Bowers of Knoxville was struck and killed in Greenback in July 2012. In March 2012, high school juniors Kevin Stinnett and Jesse Jenkins were killed in the Binfield community when a train struck them as they walked along the tracks.
