A LOCAL 8 WEATHER ALERT is posted Monday - Wednesday due to significant rainfall amounts expected to accumulate. The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch until Wednesday at 7am. We expect 2-4 inches of rain that could lead to some localized flooding in areas prone to flooding. This event will also create a slow commute to and from work Monday and Tuesday, and then again on Wednesday morning.
KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) - Members of faith in Knox County came together today to pray for the victims of the Newtown, Connecticut shooting.
They're hoping to send a message of hope and love hundreds of miles away.
The prayer service took place at Hardin Valley Church of Christ. Folks from different denominations came together to sing, pray, and continue searching for answers from within.
"It's a very challenging process. I think we have to be honest with them and part of our upbringing with them, they're aware that there is evil in the world and that there are tragic things that happen," said Melvin Colon from the Parkwest Church of God.
"We want to ask God to give them strength and to help them through this unimaginable thing that they are being faced with," said Tami Clevenger, an organizer.
Clevenger and other organizers only started planning today's event a day ago. They used social media, text messages and word of mouth to let everyone know.
