Maryville man dies after car falls into creek

MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Maryville man died in a car wreck Saturday morning according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

James Pack III, 50, was driving his 2010 Infiniti eastbound on US Highway 321 near Tuckaleechee Pike around 2:30 a.m.

Pack ran off the left side of the road and traveled nearly 280 feet into the median.

He then struck a bridge abutment, caught on fire and rolled about 70 feet on top of the bridge rail.

The car fell off the bridge and into a creek, finally coming to a halt.

It is unknown if Pack was drinking, and he was not wearing a seatbelt.
