Maryville man drowns in Tellico Lake

LENOIR CITY, Tenn. (WVLT)-- A Maryville man drowned after falling out of a houseboat on Tellico Lake Friday night.

According to TWRA, Kenneth Owens, 67, was riding near the bow of a houseboat when he fell overboard near the port bow. Witnesses told authorities he began swimming towards the shore when he went under.

The Loudon Co. Dive/Rescue Squad recovered Owens' body about 40 yards off of the shoreline around 9:25 p.m.
