UT DT Maurice Couch "premanently ineligible"

The University of Tennessee announced Friday afternoon that Volunteers defensive lineman Maurice Couch has been ruled permanently ineligible by the NCAA.

The University's official Twitter account releasing this statement: "The NCAA has declared Maurice Couch permanently ineligible. UT will appeal."

Couch was under investigation after allegedly receiving improper benefits.

Couch released a statement via Twitter shortly after the announcement: "At the end of the day, what's most important is I have my family, my degree, and love n support from the Volnation!" "And thanks to UT, coaches, teammates, Volnation, and everyone else involved sincerely appreciate everything you done for me."

Tennessee plays at Missouri this Saturday at 7:00 pm.
