KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) - Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett showed up Monday night to talk to a group of people hoping to bring a new middle school to Hardin Valley.
The group is made up of people from Farragut, Karns, Hardin Valley and Cedar Bluff. They say the area has grown so much that a new middle school is needed to ease over crowding in the other schools.
All area middle schools are almost at, or already over capacity and a lot of people say building a new school is just the answer.
Mayor Burchett agrees.
"Absolutly we need one," he insisted. "This area is so successful. Folks want to live here. I don't blame them. I grew up in West Knoxville. It is something that is going to be need int he future."
People in the Gibbs community are also making a similar push.
