KNOXVILLE, Tenn On October 22, 2013 local school teachers and parents will serve up fries and drinks at East TN and Southeast KY McDonald’s as part of McTeacher’s Night, a one-night fundraiser designed to raise money for local schools.
“We’re committed to education and supporting the schools in our community,” said Tom Cochran, a member of the Smoky Mountain Owner/Operator’s Association. “McTeacher’s Night is just one way we can assist educators and help local schools raise funds.”
Local schools will receive a portion of the sales between the hours of 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. During that time, the school principal, teachers and parents will “work” at the McDonald’s restaurant greeting customers, working the registers, serving drinks, and in some cases, assist with the preparation of food, like french fries. Families of students and other school supporters are encouraged to visit McDonald’s and enable the educators to serve them, all while raising money for the school.
In addition to helping area schools, approximately 45 restaurants across the Knoxville area will participate in McTeacher’s Nights events on or around October 2nd. The restaurants have all partnered with local schools for the event.
“On an individual basis, owner/operators of McDonald’s restaurants in the area have always been extremely supportive of schools,” added Cochran, “and McTeacher’s Night is a way for us to participate together, on a single evening.”
This is the third annual McTeacher's night for the Knoxville area. Since 2011, local McDonald's restaurant owner/operators, donated more than $55,000 to more than 44 schools, helping provide direct funds for classrooms and student programs.
