BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- An 11-year-old middle school student is in custody at the Blount County Juvenile Detention Center after admitting she wrote a threatening letter that targeted some school personnel.
Officials at Heritage Middle School acted quickly in identifying the girl and took her to the office for questioning Wednesday morning.
The girl admitted she wrote the threatening letter out of anger because she got in trouble at school. An investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division and School Resource Officer Unit revealed the girl has no access to any weapons, and no other students were involved.
The Sheriff’s Office charged her with delinquency by civil rights intimidation. She will be held at the Blount County Juvenile Detention Center pending a release hearing within 72 hours.
