Minor injuries in Knox County school bus crash involving horse

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Knox County Sheriff's Office says a school bus was involved in wreck with a horse Friday morning.

Deputies say a bus driven by Terry Douglas on Emory Road at Dyer Road was taking children to Corryton Elementary.

Deputies say a horse jumped from the bank and hit the bus and its windshield around 7:00 AM.

Three children were checked by Rural Metro for minor injuries. Two of the children were taken home by their parents. The other children on the bus were taken to school by another bus.

The horse died on the scene.

Deputies say two other horses were also found to have gotten loose and were taken by Animal Control to their owner.

No citations were issued and no charges have been filed.
