KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The 6th Annual Rusty Wallace Honda Run for the Schools was held Saturday morning at Chilhowee Park and the Knoxville Zoo.
More than 1,800 people participated in a 5k run/walk, a 100-yard dash, or a 1-mile family walk.
Public and private schools in East Tennessee raise money based on their participation in the events.
Knox County Schools Superintendent, Dr. Jim McIntyre, posted this message on Twitter, "Great morning at the Run for the Schools! Thanks to all for supporting our schools!"
Organizers haven't released how much money was raised.
The fundraiser is also designed to encourage a healthy lifestyle.
