KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Knox Co. Health Dept. is set spray for mosquitoes in deep west Knox Co. on Sunday. The decision to spray the area comes after the agency received a lab report confirming the presence of West Nile Virus in mosquitoes this year.
Weather permitting the spraying will begin around 9:00 p.m. and is expected to last around three hours. Crews will post signs in affected areas asking residents to stay inside during the spraying and to keep their pets inside or in their back yard.
Workers will return to the neighborhoods in two weeks for follow up spraying. Again, notices will be sent out to affected communities.
The spray will affect all streets in the following neighborhoods: Amber Woods, Bayview West, Choto Farms, Heron’s Point, Livery, Mallard Bay, Tanglewood, Walnut Grove, and the Woods at Montgomery Cove.
Subdivisions NOT included are: Bailey Park, Choto Fields, Greystone Court, and Montgomery Cove.
