Mother of Knoxville Olympian dies

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The mom of Knoxville Olympian and gold medal winner, Davis Tarwater, has passed away.

It was a year filled with emotion for Mary Tarwater as she watched her oldest son finally reach the pinnacle of his sport.

Earlier this week, the devoted wife and mother of three suffered cardiac arrest. She died early Friday morning.

She was 57 years old.

A memorial service will be held Monday at 4:00 at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends from two until 3:50 at the church.
