McMinn County, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A McMinn county jury indicted a mother on two counts of Aggravated Child Abuse.
Sheriff Joe Guy says April Michelle Lee is accused of burning her 8 year old son with a cigarette, because he climbed too high in a tree. A family member noticed the abuse and called Children's Services.
"The investigation revealed several fresh burns on the child's body, as well as some old burns," said Sheriff Joe Guy. "The mother confessed to burning the child out of stress and frustration."
Aggravated Child Abuse is a Class A felony. The boy is in another family members care. Lee's bond is set at $10,000. She'll be in court June 4th.
