LOCAL 8 WEATHER ALERT: As periods of heavy rain and thunder continue to move through East Tennessee, FLOODING is a concern, due to a saturated ground. Watch for water-covered roads, creeks and streams to run high. Remember TADD, "turn around don't drown."
Robbinsville, NC (WVLT)-- The Dragon, a famous stretch of Highway 129, known for its curves and hills, was busier than usual this weekend.
It's because of two big events happening on both sides of it!
The Rod Run in Pigeon Forge, and the Thunder in the Smokies in Maggie Valley, NC were bringing in bikers from around the country.
Local places like the Deal's Gap Motorcycle Resort were packed with visitors.
Alyson Shamblin, who works at the resort says this has been one of their busiest weekends.
"You see a whole lot around here, it adds to the community because it brings a lot of people together, a lot of people closer together, it's the motorcyclists number on destination in America," she says.
Emergency responders were also nearby this weekend due to the increase of visitors.
