CHEROKEE, N.C. (AP) -- North Carolina's Cherokee Indians have recently completed a five-year, $650 million expansion of the tribe's money-making casino and hotel complex.
The Winston-Salem Journal reports (http://bit.ly/14p5cSd ) that the tribe's tourist destination in the Appalachian Mountains now has twice the number of hotel rooms and amount of gambling space, The biggest change is dealers started spinning roulette wheels, dealing cards and raking in dice last summer.
North Carolina officials last year negotiated a compact that gives the state a portion of revenues from the new games.
The resort's performance center hosted shows by musicians Darius Rucker and Blake Shelton over the weekend. Alicia Keys will appear Wednesday.
