New Tennova progam to help women make health a priority

Posted: Thu 5:46 PM, Feb 28, 2013

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- It was a call for women to make their health a priority, and Thursday nearly 200 responded at Tennova's Health Extra for Women kickoff.

Women got the chance to test out Botox, meet local doctors and learn more about the latest treatments and supplements. Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero spoke during a luncheon about women who stay busy helping everyone but themselves.

"Women are so notorius about putting their healthcare last. They'll take their parents for a doctor's appointment. They'll take their kids. But it just seems they get so busy that they'll put their's last. So we're trying to get them to make it a priority," said program organizer Deborah McMillan.

Thursday was just the kickoff for the new initiative. The Women's Health Extra program is now open for membership.
