A LOCAL 8 WEATHER ALERT is in effect into Wednesday due repeated rainfall. A Flood Watch is in effect for our area until 7 AM Wednesday. Where there are more pauses in the rain, totals will be closer to 2 inches but some will receive at least 4 inches of rainfall total. Creeks and streams run high and areas with poor runoff could face flooding problems. Busy commute hours could face more slowdowns, with fog and standing water on roads as well.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- Maximum parking time has been increased from one hour to two hours, between Summit Hill Drive and the Gay Street Bridge.
The new hours are intended to ensure better turnover of parking spaces during high-demand times, providing more convenience for downtown visitors and businesses.
Rick Emmett from the City of Knoxville said "We have a great problem downtown-- we need more parking because more people are visiting especially on the weekends."
From Summit Hill Drive south to the Gay Street Bridge, the enforced hours will be as follows: Between 6 a.m. and midnight, seven days a week, parking will be limited to a maximum of two hours.
