NEWPORT, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Newport woman was arrested overnight in connection with a drug store robbery late last week in which she allegedly handed the clerk a note threatening "Give me all the Roxicodone pills you have or we will blow up."
Miranda Ellison, 27, has been charged with Aggravated Robbery as well as Theft of Property Under $500.00 stemming from an unrelated case. She was taken to Cocke Co. Jail where her bond was set at $10,000.
Police say shortly 11:00 a.m. last Friday, a woman walked into the Town & Country Drugs, 771 Cosby Hwy., wearing sunglasses, an orange UT hat, camouflaged pants, and a gray shirt. The suspect walked up to the counter and handed the clerk the note. After getting a 500 count bottle of Roxicodone pills, she took off on foot.
Police followed up on several leads that day and even brought in a K-9 unit, but was unable to track the robber. On Monday, authorities said they received information pointing them toward Ellison, who was arrested around 11:00 that night.
