KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A new research chief is taking the helm at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
Ramamoorthy Ramesh says he plans to move his family from California to East Tennessee on July 4, and after that he has a jam-packed schedule. So far, he hasn't spent much time at the facility since being named in April because he has been wrapping up commitments from his former job at the University of California, Berkley.
Before move, he told the Knoxville News Sentinel in an interview that the Oak Ridge lab has the ability to do research in its purest form while also researching applications, developing ideas for commercial use and demonstrating manufacturing capabilities on a small scale.
He says he plans to encourage debate on ideas and demand excellence
