OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The City of Oak Ridge Public Works Department will be doing routine flushing of the water system starting April 29 through approximately June 1, 2013. Inclement weather may result in delays.
The flushing will be performed between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Residents in the areas being flushed are advised to consider not washing any laundry during those hours since the flushing may cause temporary discoloration of the water during the process.
The flushing program is an annual requirement of all water systems and is used as a means of ensuring that satisfactory water quality is maintained throughout the water system. It aids in this task by removing iron deposits and other sediments, which naturally collect within all water systems.
The days on which the areas are flushed may vary depending on the water system conditions. The schedule can be found by clicking on the link below.
