KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Local 8 News Anchor Amanda Hara spent another day at Horse Haven of Tennessee, featuring a few adoptable equines as the farm prepares for Adoption Day.
Mocha is an 18 year old bay Morgan cross mare who is broke to ride. She's gentle on the ground, adores people, and enjoys carrying a rider at the walk. She could immediately be used as a trail horse as long as she's not leading.
However, Mocha hasn't fully grasped the concept of leg or reign yielding, and doesn't understand the application of pressure from the aids. Therefor, she will need an experienced rider or someone working with a trainer to help her understand the concept of trotting and cantering.
"Pal" is Mocha's boyfriend, and pasture mate. He's a 6 year old sorrel Quarter Horse cross and he's green broke to ride.
This horse spent some time with a therapeutic riding academy where he underwent desensitization exercises, and it shows. Pal is interested in exploring everything, from barrels to mailboxes, shoes to video cameras. He'd rather investigate things than spook at them.
Both Mocha and Pal are available for adoption and you can meet them October 12Th between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. during Horse Haven's Adoption Day. The farm is located at 2417 Reagan Road in Knoxville.
Visit their website for a look at other adoptable horses.
