MORRISTOWN, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Davy Crockett Restaurant does pretty good business in Morristown:
"It's busy, it has its days like most restaurants. You have your days when you're not busy, then you have them when you are busy. But it's like an average restaurant, where you are and you're not," said Talesha Hoke, with the restaurant.
And soon, she expects it to get a lot busier. That's because nearby Oddello Industries is expanding, adding more than 200 manufacturing jobs.
"It's exciting because we can get more people coming in, different customers coming in that we've not seen before. And I think it'll be a good experience for everybody," said Hoke.
Hamblen County Mayor Bill Brittain said the ripple effect on the local economy will be huge.
"It means more jobs in other sectors and more jobs not only in Hamblen County, but for people in other counties who can drive in to work," said Brittain.
Over the past month, two other manufacturing companies - Team Technologies and Sonoco Products - have also expanded, adding 300 jobs to the area.
"It's a validation of what we're trying to do here - make sure that our companies are competitive. And make sure from our standpoint as a county government, make sure that we have enough trained employees," said Brittain.
The furniture company is bringing the jobs to Morristown from China. The president of the Morristown Area Chamber of Commerce said bringing manufacturing jobs back to the US is one of the area's biggest goals.
"Morristown historically is really furniture based and we've diversified and added a lot of automotive companies to make up for some of the losses. So it's really exciting to see some of that furniture work start to come back," said Marshall Ramsey, president of the Morristown Area Chamber of Commerce.
