Officer receives minor injuries after crash in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - A Knoxville police officer and another woman were taken to UT Medical Center after a wreck Tuesday afternoon.

It happened around 2:30 p.m. on Broadway in north Knoxville.

Office Stephanie Wilson was traveling north on Broadway when the driver of a Kia Sportage pulled out and into the path of Officer Wilson.

The driver of the Kia was attempting to turn south onto Broadway. Officer Wilson was briefly trapped in the vehicle due to the damage to the cruiser. Both drivers were taken to UT Medical Center for treatment of what appeared to be minor injuries.

The crash is still under investigation. No citations have been issued.
