Overnight fire destroys Maryville apartments

MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- An overnight fire destroyed several units of a Maryville apartment complex, leaving several people who lived there homeless.

Shonia Garland said, "I lost my cats, I lost my life, I don't have a family."

Two units were destroyed and five others damaged. The Red Cross was on hand to lend support to nine tenants forced out of their homes.

"All my seizure medicine is burned up. I have no where to go," said Garland.

Others lost all they owned, including money, personal documents and necessary prescriptions.

Investigators say it may be a few days until they determine a cause.
