Pair charged in rape of young child

ALCOA, Tenn. (WVLT) -- An investigation into a report of inappropriate sexual contact with a young child lead to charges of rape against a Louisville man, according to the Alcoa Police Dept. Nicholas James Orchid was charged with rape of a child and aggravated sexual battery.

Authorities said their investigation following a referral from the Dept. of Children's Services in June. At that time the child identified Orchid as his attacker.

When police finally caught up with Orchid at his home at the Lakeview Apartments he initially denied the allegations, but later confessed to having unlawful contact with the child at least once following a polygraph.

During their investigation, detectives also discovered a link to a 30 year-old Kristi Lundin, of Luttrell, She has since been charged with facilitation of aggravated sexual battery and failure to report child sexual abuse.

Both Orchid and Lundin are being held at Blount Co. Jail on $125,000 and $55,000, respectively. They are scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 13.
