Park Service reports 100+ mph winds, roads closed

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Strong winds are forcing the park officials to close U.S. 441 and state route 71 Thursday, the National Park Service said.

Wind gusts were reportedly reaching triple digits, the highest in three years, the NPS reported. Numerous trees have been blown down and park officials said crews won't be able to go out to move them until conditions improve.

Sevier Co. School officials said they are monitoring the weather, but, as it stands, they are still planning for a full day of school on Friday.
