(Dandridge, TN. - WVLT) Jefferson County authorities confirm a partial roof collapse at Jefferson County High school.
It happened around 12:30 at the school's vocational building, directly over the drama room. Luckily, no one was inside at the time.
Fire fighters said they think the rain contributed to the collapse.
"We have been on top of the roof, looking with the truck, using the aerials with the trucks here on the scene. And we have a lot of ponding of water on top of the roof itself, so it does lead me to believe that the ponding of the water built up the dead weight, or dead load on the roof and helped collapse this," said Andy Riley, chief of the Dandridge Fire Department.
Dandrige said crews are working to remove the rest of the standing water from the roof with pumps.
