SCOTT AND MORGAN CO, Tenn. (WVLT) - For many families, the only presents they can afford are donated.
Last month, we told you about one organization struggling to fill orders in Scott County.
Since then, many stepped up to help the Morgan-Scott Project.
Now, every kid in both counties will get Christmas presents thanks to donations, both with toys and money.
The response came from Knoxville, Oak Ridge, Cumberland County, even Chattanooga and other places across the state.
"We really couldn't keep going without the support of other areas, because Morgan and Scott County both have high unemployment rates, and not a lot of industry," said Lori Brock, who works with Morgan-Scott.
"If we have more than other people, then we can afford to pass it on, then we do it," said Fred Weller with the Fairfield Glade Community Church in Crossville.
"The Lord's blessed, and people have really come out and donated. People we haven't heard from in a while have opened up their hearts and their pockets and have really pitched in and helped," said Brock.
Everything from Hotwheels to Barbies and books, toys for all ages. The drive up and hard work is worth it to the people donating the presents.
"Well you ever look at their faces when they get gifts? That tells it all," said Weller.
Brock says there's now enough toys for every needy child in Morgan and Scott Counties. So thousands of families will go home with a smile, knowing they'll have presents under the tree.
If you are still interested in donating, they are in need of presents meant for high schoolers. You can call 423-965-3131.
The Christmas present pick-up in Scott County will this Saturday at the Oneida Boys and Girls Club from 8:00-5:00 pm.
In Morgan County, it will be at the Wartburg Boys and Girls Club next Thursday from 10:00-3:00 pm.
