PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Pigeon Forge city leaders and business owners are trying to figure out what is next after residence approved liquor by the drink sales.
On Tuesday, by a 100 vote margin, voters approved liquor sales in the city. On Wednesday, Assistant City Manager Eric Brackins said he'd been busy all day trying to figure out what the city now has to do to make this happen.
"It's new for us," said Brackins. "New for our city administratively, and new for our businesses. We're just learning more about the process of what we as a city have to do."
According to the Tennessee Alcohol Beverage Control Board, they first have to be notified by the election commission that the vote was certified and passed to sale alcohol. A spokesperson says until then, they won't be able to start accepting applications.
The spokesperson says it could take 30-60 day for drinks to start pouring in Pigeon Forge.
Meanwhile, the city won't control who gets a permit, but are looking to see if there's any changes that need to be made by city government.
"We're going to do our research in terms of resolutions and things of that nature," said Brackins. "Most of the regulations that pertain to liquor by the drink are governed by the ABC, so they administer the license and things of that nature."
Voters said yes to Liquor by the Drink with 1,232 votes to the 1,132 no votes.
Voters have previously said no to the liquor by the drink vote. In May of 2011 590 voters said no to 482 yes votes.
A record number of people voted early on the liquor by the drink issue. A total of 1077 votes were cast before election day.
