PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Pigeon Forge leaders looked at reverting back to old sign requirements for an area of the parkway near the Titanic & Hatfield and McCoy's Dinner Show.

At a commission workshop, leaders looked at changing the C-5 zoning back to rules from several years ago. The zoning was changed in the area when a developer was looking to redevelop property where Memories and other theaters had moved from.

When the theater's reopened, the city received requests for sign permits. The City was looking at creating a C5-A zone and a C5-B zone.

Businesses in a C5-A would limit 1 owner of 75 acres 1 monument sign at up to 2 entrances. The monument signs could be 500ft.

Businesses in the C5-B zone would be for multiple owners on 75 acres and would allow them to have a 350ft sign for each individual business.

According to Mayor David Wear, "This would help businesses out that are individually owned, but if the development comes through, the developer won't have to change zoning."

"If the deal gets back together he can have the 500ft sign," said Wear.

City Commission will vote for first reading on the zoning change Monday at its meeting. It would take to votes of approval to be changed.
