KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Downtown Knoxville leaders say you should start planning ahead to figure out where you'll park and how you will get to the stadium on Saturday for UT's home opener.
Knoxville is turning orange, and many businesses on Cumberland Avenue are getting ready for a big year. Workers at Rocky Top Books are stocking shelves with the latest UT gear.
"Kind of exciting. There's kind of that buzz around campus that we'd lost for a little bit," said Terry Jay at Rocky Top Books. "People have been coming in asking for the Butch Jones T Shirts."
The excitement of a new coach could mean almost 100,000 fans downtown on Saturday. The city says come early and be patient. You can park for free in the city's parking lots and ride the shuttle over to the stadium.
"The walk is not that far to go from downtown to there. Just follow the trend of other folks," said Rick Emmett, Downtown Coordinator. "It's just going to be a very crazy time downtown, So everyone come down and enjoy yourself. Have a little patience, do a little research before you get here so you don't get into any trouble."
Smartphone users can download the city's parking App to help them find where to park. The city also has some suggestions on Visit Knoxville's website.
