KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett announced the groundbreaking of a nearly 8,000 square foot facility Wednesday morning.
"The new Karns Senior Center will be built right here at the Knox County Sports Park. It's a great location for the Karns community - there's plenty of parking and it's easily accessible," said Burchett.
He said the center will host field trips, dances, and plenty of other physical activities to keep seniors moving and on the go.
The new facility will become the sixth senior center in the area.
