COLUMBIA, Tenn. (AP) -- Authorities say a Columbia man accidentally shot himself while drawing a gun during a domestic dispute with his wife.
The Daily Herald is reporting that 60-year-old Randall Floyd Lovett was treated at a local hospital for a gunshot wound to the knee and then charged with aggravated assault.
Police reports indicate that Lovett's wife, 55-year-old Sarena Lovett, told authorities that they had been arguing around midnight on April 4 when he pulled a pistol out of an armrest on a coach. The reports say the wife told police that the .38-caliber Smith & Wesson discharged and hit him in the left knee as soon as he drew it.
Deputies confiscated the pistol and several other firearms from the house. Randall Lovett was released from jail on $5,000 bond
