MORRISTOWN, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Morristown woman faces several charges after she allegedly ran a police officer off the road and swerved on and off the road several times herself.
According to the arresting officer, he was heading north on Lakeshore Dr. spotted Deborah Clevenger headed the opposite direction in a 2006 Nissan Sentra near Hopper Bluff Rd.
Clevenger apeared to be in the officer's lane at the time, forcing him off the road. As he turned around, the officer noticed Clevenger's car alternating between crossing the center line and leaving the road.
Before he could get his lights on, Clevenger had pulled onto Spence Rd. and come to a stop. Approaching the car, the could smell alcohol and marijuana and picked up on several signs that she was impaired, including slurred speech, confusion, and difficulty performing simple tasks.
After getting out of the car, Clevenger tried to put on her coat twice, only to put it on upside down both times.
A search of her purse turned up what looked like marijuana, the officer said, as well as two pills and other drug paraphernalia. Running her record, the officer discovered her license had been revoked because of a previous DUI.
