Police: Victim stabbed during robbery attempt

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A 36 year-old man was stabbed just above his right hip during a robbery attempt late Sunday, according to the Knoxville Police Dept.

It happened near the intersection of E. Magnolia Ave. and N. Elmwood St. shortly after 11:30 p.m. The victim, Chavon Carter, told police two men jumped out of a gray SUV and approached him. He said they tried to rob him while stabbing him in the right side.

Carter was taken to UT Medical Center where he was treated. Investigators said they've completed a preliminary investigation and will be conducting a follow-up at the hospital.
