Police bust massive party near UT's campus

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Knoxville Police Department tells Local 8 News they busted a party of about 800 unruly UT students Saturday night.

It happened around 11:30 on Laurel Street.

Officers say the party seems to have started at a house in the 2500 block and quickly got out of hand.

Sixty different officers from KPD, the Knox County Sheriff's Office, as well as UT Police were on scene.

Officers say they called for assistance after students started throwing bottles at the police.

More than a dozen arrests were made.
