Mother speaks out about son killed in car crash

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- One person has died following a head-on collision in East Knoxville early Thursday morning. According to the Knoxville Police Dept., 22 year-old Daniel Lundy died en route to the hospital.

Now, Lundy's mother, Sherri is speaking out. She's bringing in the new year without her son who died just two days after Christmas.

"We were really close he didn't keep much from his mom - we were very very close. We loved each other very much all we had was me and him," said Sherri.

She wants folks to know Daniel wasn't drunk or on drugs when he got behind the wheel -- just in a hurry.

Investigators said Lundy was heading east on Delrose Ave. near Riverside Dr., around 5:45 a.m. at the time of the wreck. The driver of the oncoming vehicle, 51 year-old Jeff Snyder was taken to the hospital as well with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
