KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Knoxville Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting on Friday that sent one man to the hospital.
According to a KPD spokesperson, the victim, Dewell Chandler, was shot in the leg. The 20 year-old man was taken to UT Medical Center for treatment.
Officers found Chandler on the front porch of a home on E. Inskip Rd. shortly before 4:00 a.m. They say he was uncooperative, although did tell them he was making "a run" to an apartment complex. Chandler told police he did not know the name of the complex or where it was located.
Chandler reportedly told police that when he got out of the car he heard the gunshots and knew he was hit. He said he doesn't know who shot him or where the bullets came from.
