KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The University of Tennessee Board of Trustees unanimously agreed to recommend at 3.5% merit increase of President Dr. Joe DiPietro.
If approved by board vote on Friday, Dr. DiPietro's salary would increase by $15,067.50 from $430,500 a year to $445,567.50.
Back in July, Dr. DiPietro received a 2.5 percent across-the-board increase, totaling $10,500 and taking his base pay from $420,000 to $430,500.
This time around, Dr. DiPietro declined to accept a merit increase greater than 3.5%, the largest amount of increase approved for any other senior executive with the University.
