LAFOLLETTE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Campbell Co. Sheriff's Office announced a $2,000 reward for information leading to the prosecution of whomever was involved in the fire that destroyed Fincastle Church of God on Sunday.
Anyone with information about the arson is asked to call the sheriff's office at 423-562-7446 or the Tennessee Bomb and Arson Section at 615-741-3030.
A member of the Campbell Co. Sheriff's Office first spotted the fire around 3:00 a.m. on Sunday after spotting smoke coming from the church. Firefighters arrived within minutes and fought throughout the night to push back the flames.
Multiple fire stations were called in as the battle waged on.
No nearby fire hydrants could be found, so water had to be trucked in to fight the fire, delaying an end to the flames. Officials said the fire started in the basement, but no cause has been found.
The church was destroyed, and members could only recover a Bible and some membership records from the basement.
Fincastle Church of God has about 100 members and the building has stood since 1979.
