KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Tuesday morning's heavy rains proved too much for the roof of one Old City shop. The building that housed Big Don's Elegant Junk and Stuff caved in under the weight of all that water.
Firefighters were called to the store, at the corner of Willow Ave. and South Central Ave., early in the morning, according to a Knoxville Police Dept. spokesperson. He said the building has a flat rubber membrane covering with drains that allows the water to run off.
Unfortunately, the rain came down faster than the drains could disperse it. The structure has been deemed unsafe to enter.
No one was hurt in the collapse. Firefighters cut power to the building to prevent a fire.
