HUNTSVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Scott County Commissioners will hear from two prospective buyers for its hospital during a special session next Monday. Officials will arrive early for their regularly scheduled meeting at the Scott Co. Office Building in Huntsville for a special session at 4:30 p.m.
They will meet with representatives from Pioneer Health Services,of Magee, Miss., and Ameris Health Systems, of Nashville, Tenn., about either firm acquiring the Oneida-based facility. Under the terms submitted by each firm the hospital could reopen by October 1st.
The 25-bed critical access hospital was most recently operated by Health Management Associates, of Naples, Fla. It closed on May 24 when the contract between HMA and Scott Co., which owns the hospital, expired.
