SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Sevier County is preparing for a big Black Friday shopping day and stores are already stocking up on gift ideas for the whole family.

At the Smoky Mountain Knife Works, promotional sales fliers are already being released in anticipation of what's expected to be a busy day next Friday.

"It's obviously the Number one shopping day of the year. If you want a deal on something you've got to get here for Black Friday. Black Friday is Black Friday there's no other way of getting around that," said Tyler Pipes with Smoky Mountain Knife Works.

Pipes says his store will open at 7 a.m.--later than other stores--because he's not attracting the typical Black Friday shopper.

Tanger Outlets plan on opening at 10 p.m. on Thanksgiving Thursday, hours before the traditional Black Friday would start. Stores are planning special door busters to get people inside.

"We love Black Friday, our guests just pack the store, the parking lot is so full (and) all the staff actually park across the street," said Janet Donaldson at the Incredible Christmas Place.

Donaldson said The Christmas Place is a popular stop for people after they search for gifts and are ready to put up holiday decorations.

Many hotels in Sevier County say they're sold out on the Thanksgiving weekend because of shopping. The Inn on the River says it's already booked to 75%, and fully expects to be at 100% by next week.

"Thanksgiving Day is always a little soft, but Black Friday is always over the top because of shopping," said Carl Thomas, Managing Partner for the Inn on the River.

Last year shopper spent more than $54 million on Black Friday, 16% more than in 2010.
