Sevierville woman dies from injuries a week after crash

SEVIER COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT)-- A woman involved in a wreck last weekend has died from her injuries.

According to THP, Wilma Matthews died at UT Medical Center Friday night. The two-car crash happened last Saturday, October 20 on Newport Highway.

Matthews was riding in the car with Glenn Matthews when it collided with a truck. The driver of the truck failed to yield when making a turn on to Fairgarden Rd, according to THP.

After the collision, the car Matthews was in went off the road and overturned. The driver of the truck, Cale Faircloth, left the scene before authorities arrived. But, according to THP, surrendered at the jail the next day.

Two of the drivers involved in the wreck were injured in the crash.
