Sheep competition has farmers preparing early at fair

Knoxville, TENN (WVLT)-- The Tennessee Valley Fair is well underway and there's something for everyone there.

But not everyone at the fair is visiting, many are working!

Saturday morning farmers and their sheep were up at the crack of dawn getting ready for the day's competition.

From feeding, to grooming, they have to make sure their sheep look just right for the judges.

Even the youngest farmers were getting their hands dirty, this was Garren Hamby's first time showing sheep,"Basically we're just showing sheep and enjoying it," he says," I just love showing sheep because it's fun and it's really enjoyable."

Garren says he and his family have been getting ready since April and hope to take home a first place ribbon!
