Evening rain showers will change to a sleet and wet snow mix late tonight. Trace to 2 inches for the Valley, but more for the Plateau and Smokies. While most of it will stick on grassy surfaces initially, please drive carefully, as visibilities will drop with the burst of snow.
SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Businesses in the Smokies are getting ready for a big weekend of tourism.
Hotels in Sevier County say most of their rooms are booked. Karl Thomas at Inn on the River says Saturday is about 97% full as of early Friday morning.
"I can say we'll fill tonight, Saturday and most of the way Sunday now," said Thomas. "These weekends are great because we get a bonus. We get a bonus day because people don't have to be to work until Tuesday."
Thomas says this weekend is important to him because he'll make staff decisions based on how busy it is.
"This weekend kind of sets the tone for the whole summer. If this weekend is great then it's going to be a great summer," said Thomas.
Campgrounds in Great Smoky Mountains National Park are reserved for the weekend also.
