SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The holiday season is officially underway in the Smoky mountains as Sevierville and Pigeon Forge held opening celebrations for Winterfest.
Winterfest is a 4 month show of lights and activities for the holiday season and Winter months in Sevier County.
Sevierville's free event called Music, Lights & Magic drew in hundreds of people to sample all the food from area businesses. Sevierville’s Winterfest Celebration features 100% LED lighting.
In Pigeon Forge, Vietnam War veteran and Pittsburgh Steelers football legend Rocky Bleier was the grand marshal of Pigeon Forge’s third annual Salute to Veterans Parade.
The parade is the lead-in to the city’s Winterfest Kickoff. Kickoff activities include live entertainment, fireworks and the traditional flipping of the switch to turn on the city’s 5 million Winterfest lights.
Galtinburg will welcome in Winterfest on Wednesday with the 24th Annual Chili Cookoff and Winter Magic Kickoff is on the downtown Parkway from 5-8 p.m.
