GATLINBURG, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is celebrating the park's partnership with area communities in an event Monday at the Park's headquarters in Gatlinburg.
The annual event is sponsored by the Smoky Mountain Tourism and Development Council and observes National Tourism Week.
The event features the announcement of Christine Hoyer as the park's 2011 employee of the year, and Jimbo Whaley, a singer and Market Director at Dixie Stampede, will host the ceremony.
One visiting family will also be selected as Tourist Family of the Day.
The event starts at 11:30 a.m. at the park headquarters off Park Headquarters Rd in Gatlinburg on Monday.
